The Jackson High School Swim Team competed in their first swim meet of the 2010 high school season on Tuesday, September 28, 2010.  The meet was held in Fairhope with over 100 swimmers from Jackson, Fairhope, Foley and Baldwin County High Schools competing.  The JHS team is made up of eight girls and three boys.  Coaching the JHS team is Abby Beverly.

"High school swimming is open for students in grades 7 - 12.  The boys all swim and compete together and the girls all swim and compete together.  There is no division for age groups," explained Coach Beverly.

"I was very proud of the effort of all of our swimmers.  We have several new members on our team this year, including 3 students that did not know how to swim at the beginning of the season.  It was very exciting to see them compete.  Our 8 member girl's team finished the meet in 2nd place in the Girls - Team rankings.  All swimmers started the season with excellent times and I look forward to those times dropping and getting lower with each meet", said Coach Abby Beverly.  "Ben Morseth's individual times in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle events qualified him to compete in the Alabama State High School Athletic Associations State Championship Meet that will be held at the University of Alabama on December 3 and 4.  I am excited about Ben's times and look forward to other swimmers also making state qualifying times this year."

The JHS swim team will compete on October 12 against BC Rain, Alma Bryant, LeFlore High Schools and Faith Academy.  This meet will be held at Bishop State Community College in Mobile at 6:30 p.m.
